TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texas A&M University Texarkana held a gathering Friday morning to celebrate a new educational building, as well as the family who contributed to its construction.

The event served as the formal dedication for the facility, which will house programs in business and technology. University officials, local leaders, and members of the contributing family attended the ceremony. During the dedication, the university announced the creation of several scholarships funded by the family's gift. These scholarships will support students pursuing degrees in fields tied to the new building's focus.

The building includes modern classrooms, computer labs, and collaborative workspaces designed to prepare students for careers in a changing economy. Administrators said the facility reflects a commitment to expanding access to high-demand programs and strengthening ties with regional employers. The donated funds will also help with ongoing equipment upgrades and student support services.

Speakers praised the family's generosity and noted that the scholarships will reduce financial barriers for students from the surrounding area. The university plans to begin holding classes in the building during the upcoming academic year.
