Bernie Sanders says: Time to listen to Verizon CEO's warning NOW, we are not prepared to ...

Senator Bernie Sanders has issued a pressing call to action, urging the nation to heed the recent warnings from Verizon CEO Dan Schulman regarding the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. In a statement that has captured significant attention in tech and political circles, Sanders argued that the United States is dangerously unprepared for the societal and economic disruptions AI is poised to unleash.

The Vermont senator specifically highlighted Schulman’s sobering assessment that AI could displace millions of workers and destabilize entire industries far sooner than anticipated. "When the CEO of one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world says we are not prepared, it is time to listen," Sanders stated. He emphasized that the current trajectory prioritizes corporate profits over human welfare, with no comprehensive federal framework in place to manage job displacement, data privacy, or algorithmic bias.

Sanders called for immediate legislative action, including a moratorium on certain AI deployments until robust safety and labor protections are established. He warned that without proactive measures, the technology could exacerbate income inequality and concentrate power among a handful of tech giants. "This is not a distant future problem," Sanders concluded. "The warning is here, and the window to act is closing fast."
