Coherent Corp. has introduced a set of optical technologies and live demonstrations aimed at helping customers expand AI infrastructure. The company announced the products ahead of the European Conference on Optical Communication, or ECOC 2026, which takes place in Malaga, Spain.
The photonics specialist said it will present its latest work at Stand 2100 in Hall 2. The display covers several areas tied to the growing compute and bandwidth requirements of AI systems. These include connectivity for AI datacenters, co-packaged optics, near-packaged optics, and next-generation pluggable transceivers.
The push reflects broader pressure on network hardware as AI models grow larger and clusters expand. Moving data between chips, servers, and racks has become a central bottleneck. Co-packaged optics and near-packaged optics are two approaches meant to shorten electrical paths and cut power use by placing optical components closer to the processor.
Pluggable transceivers remain a workhorse of datacenter links, and the company's next-generation versions are expected to support higher speeds for AI workloads. The live demonstrations at the conference will let attendees see how these pieces fit together in realistic setups.
ECOC is a major annual gathering for the optical communications field, drawing researchers, equipment makers, and network operators. Coherent's showing signals that vendors are racing to supply the optical plumbing needed for the next wave of AI computing.
