NVIDIA's $20 billion acquisition of Groq's assets is moving from paper to production. The company's new Groq 3 LPX rack is now in full manufacturing mode, according to a CNBC report, and it will be paired with NVIDIA's Vera CPUs and Rubin GPUs for deployment at the neocloud provider Nebius later this year. Nvidia senior director Dion Harris shared the update with reporters, confirming that the hardware is on track.
The rack represents the first major commercial product to come out of the December deal, where NVIDIA bought key technology and intellectual property from Groq, a company known for its work in AI inference chips. This move was seen as a way to strengthen NVIDIA's position in the fast-growing market for AI computing, especially as demand for faster and more efficient processing continues to climb.
By combining the Groq 3 LPX rack with its own Vera and Rubin components, NVIDIA is aiming to offer a more complete package for data centers and cloud providers. Nebius, which focuses on AI infrastructure, will be one of the first customers to get the new system. The timeline points to later this year, which suggests that NVIDIA is moving quickly to integrate the acquired technology into its broader product lineup. For investors, this is a sign that the hefty price tag for Groq is starting to translate into actual hardware and revenue opportunities, not just patents and research.
