Pittsburgh entrepreneur donates storage systems to Seton Hill business, technology school

A Pittsburgh businessman has given a significant boost to students studying technology and business at Seton Hill University. Gene Leyzarovich, the founder of a local digital storage company, donated equipment valued at $35,000 to support the school's cybersecurity and computer science programs.

Leyzarovich, who previously served as CEO of Jetstor, started his company in the Bloomfield neighborhood more than three decades ago. He built the business while he was still a student at the University of Pittsburgh and working overnight shifts at UPMC. That combination of academic focus and hands-on work experience shaped his approach to business and his interest in helping the next generation of tech professionals.

The donated storage systems will give Seton Hill students access to the kind of hardware they are likely to encounter in real-world IT environments. University officials say the equipment will be used in classrooms and labs, allowing students to gain practical experience with data management and network security tools.

School leaders thanked Leyzarovich for his generosity, noting that private donations like this one play a key role in keeping academic programs current with industry standards. The gift is expected to benefit students across several courses and may also support research projects and student-led initiatives in the coming semesters.
