Seagate Technology Holdings has moved back into the spotlight after posting stronger-than-expected quarterly and full-year results. The company's latest numbers show a clear jump in both revenue and profit, and management pointed to artificial intelligence as a major driver behind the surge in demand for high-capacity storage.
For the fourth quarter, Seagate reported sales of 3.63 billion dollars, up sharply from 2.44 billion dollars in the same period last year. Net income also climbed, reaching 1.29 billion dollars compared with 488 million dollars a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations came in well ahead of what analysts had modeled, giving the stock a fresh wave of momentum.
The question now is whether the shares still have room to run. Some valuation models suggest Seagate is trading about 27 percent below its fair value, even after the recent earnings pop. That gap is largely tied to expectations that AI workloads will keep pushing demand for mass-capacity drives, especially in cloud data centers and enterprise storage systems.
But there are also risks to consider. The storage market has historically been cyclical, and a slowdown in cloud spending or a shift in technology could hit demand. Seagate's own guidance for the coming quarters will be closely watched for signs that the AI tailwind is durable or just a short-term boost.
For now, the earnings report gives investors a reason to revisit the stock. The combination of strong financials, a growing AI narrative, and a still-attractive valuation makes Seagate one of the more interesting names in the hardware space. Whether the discount closes depends on how well the company can sustain this momentum in a competitive and fast-changing market.
