The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has signed three separate technology agreements at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition, known as WETEX. The deals were arranged through Moro Hub, the authority's digital arm, and involve Huawei, Nozomi Networks and Syskey Softlabs.
The first agreement with Huawei covers information and communication technology infrastructure. The second, signed with Nozomi Networks, focuses on cybersecurity licence management. The third, with Syskey Softlabs, addresses operational technology monitoring. Together the three contracts are meant to reinforce the resilience of Dubai's critical infrastructure as the emirate pushes further into digital transformation.
The timing reflects a broader shift among Gulf utilities, which are increasingly treating cybersecurity as a core operational requirement rather than a back office concern. Power and water systems depend on industrial control networks that, if compromised, could disrupt essential services across entire districts. Bringing in outside specialists for licence management and continuous monitoring allows the authority to keep watch over these systems without building every capability in house.
Officials framed the agreements as part of a wider effort to adopt advanced digital tools while keeping service reliability intact. The partnerships also signal that regional utilities are willing to work with international vendors on security, even as they invest heavily in homegrown platforms. For Moro Hub, the deals expand its role as a coordinator between public infrastructure operators and private technology firms. Further details on implementation timelines were not disclosed.
